Description
Our wildflower seed collection has been grown and saved at Solitary Bee gardens. They do well in full sun and will germinate with the winter rains. The colors will all mix beautifully, but each of these also looks beautiful planted as stand-alone drifts as well. A large pot display of the Flanders, Mexican Hats or Blanket flowers also make a dramatic statement. These are best sprinkled out in fall through winter. This collection consists of 5 packets of seeds.
Flanders Poppy Red – (Papaver rhoeus)
The Flanders poppy is also known as corn poppies, field poppies, Shirley poppies, Legions poppies, This is an annual wildflower that will self-sow year after year. Loved by bees and insects. Vibrant large red blossoms with contrasting black centers.
California poppy Mix – (Eschscholzia californica)
A cheery mix of golden California poppy and the vermillion Mikado California poppy. One of the earliest bloomers in the Spring garden to provide pollen for bees. California poppies look lovely combined with desert bluebells. Plant in full sun.
Desert Bluebells – (Phacelia campanularia)
Desert Bluebells are also known as California bluebells. These bright true blue wildflowers look like an ocean of blue when planted in large drifts. Looks especially lovely in the desert- scaped gardening. Combines well with California poppies. An annual wildflower that will self-sow. Plant in full sun,
Indian Blanket Flowers – (Gaillardia pulchella)
A lovely annual wildflower also known as pinwheels. These provide a mass of color and require little watering. Flower color does fade with extreme heat but continues to flower into July in the low desert.
Mexican Hats- (Ratibida columnifera)
An unusual flower that is a showstopper in any garden. Mexican Hats are very at home in the desert garden and adds color and texture to desert landscaping. This is the red-flowered variety and the bright yellow pollen is a magnet for pollinators
